Batman - Goofs and Nitpicks Guide Season 1 2. Smack in the Middle With considerable respect to Jill St. John, she's not really physically equipped to try and pass herself off as Burt Ward. Of course, Burt Ward does play the dual role. Still it doesn't make much sense to have Molly disguised as Robin. 4. The Penguin's a Jinx So why don't Batman and Robin simply take off their utility belts to bypass the magnet? 16. He Meets His Match, The Grisly Ghoul Not for the first time, one wonders exactly where Batman keeps his Bat-Shield. It folds into quarters, which still leaves you with a piece of flat plastic about a foot square. Conveniently Adam West vaguely tucks it back behind his back and then the camera cuts away. 17. True or False-Face Rather foolishly, Falseface straps Batman and Robin to two separate sets of parallel tracks. The passing subway car would kill one of them, but not both. Stafford Repp, despite the fact that Chief O'Hara is supposed to be unconscious, is rather noticeably walking himself into the Trick-Truck. 18. Holy Rat Race When the "quick-drying" epoxy glue is blown off of Batman's left wrist, you can tell it is merely a rather flimsy saran wrap which isn't solid or even liquid at all. 23. The Ring of Wax What happened to Riddler's 3-piece suit with the derby?? It's much cooler than those abysmal tights (the suit has more question marks!)! Feature Movie Batman- The Movie Why don't the Dynamic Duo simply remove their belts to escape the magnetic buoy? So we're supposed to believe the villains really staged their crime at sea just so they'd leave the clue of "C = Catwoman"? Or that Batman would figure this out? If Bruce Wayne was going to be overpowered kidnapped by The United Underworld anyway, why not just have Robin and Alfred plant a homing transmitter on him? They could've traced him and the villains to the hideout a lot quicker! Season 1 34. Batman Makes the Scenes Without an airhose or some other means of directing the air to his and Robin's mouths, any air from the utility belt would be sucked out of the room as quickly as it was released from the utility belt tank. Season 2 38. The Cat and the Fiddle The narrorator calls the latest dance craze: The Catwalk, but in Episode #37 Aunt Harriet called it the "Catoosie" 40. Barbecued Batman? The Minstrel's female asistant is named Amanda in the credits; however in the actual show her name is Octavia. 43. The Greatest Mother of Them All Ma Parker is in the cab of a truck, pulling a gun on the driver, and tells her son that she has a slight headache. Batman is way behind the truck chasing it on foot. When they wonder where she went he says to Robin "Remember what Ma Parker said about having a headache" then Robin says "You think she went to a drugstore"? HOLY super hearing, how could he have heard her say that from where he was at, when she said it? 47. An Egg Grows in Gotham Egghead has figured out that Bruce Wayne is Batman. Oddly enough,he doesn't say a single word about Dick Grayson being Robin! Think about it:he's sitting right there, his age,his height, etc. How could he not make that connection? 48. The Yegg Foes in Gotham The sign outside the farm says "Old MacDonald's", but all the boxes of eggs say "Old McDonald's" 49. The Devil's Fingers When Liberace and Aunt Harriet were drinking "rootbeer" it was red. Since when is rootbeer red? When Liberace hit himself with the bottle Batman picked up a small piece and said it was a rootbeer bottle. If it was a small piece, how can he tell?? 53. Green Ice So exactly what does turning someone into an Freezie constitute? It seems to involve more than simply freezing them (since the Duo's bat skivvies protect them from cold). If Mr. Freeze is going to melt them that involves heat, not cold. So is he going to turn them into ice, or what? Truly the silliest of Batman cliff-hangers, although there are many to choose from. 58. Marsha's Scheme of Diamonds The Grand Mogul and his men leap out of the cauldron at Marsha's command. However, in the next long shot we can see that the coals under the cauldron are still burning. Ouch! 84. Batman Displays His Knowledge Why wasn't Catwoman or her henchmen affected by the poison perfume? 85. A Piece of the Action Burt Ward and Adam West do not-so-convincing jobs of pretending to be stuck by their arms to the glue pad, despite the fact that their capes are between the arms and the pad. Still they valiantly press their arms back as if they were stuck in that manner. Before Gumm reveals he's a master criminal, why doesn't Pinky notice that Gumm's supposedly normal employees are wearing big nametags with typical Batman-style villain/henchman names ("Cancelled", "Reprint", etc.)? Okay, it's the Batman TV show, so we shouldn't take it too seriously. But previously the Green Hornet and Kato have been identified within the show both as crimefighters (in "The Spell of Tut") and TV characters ("The Impractical Joker"). Here they are presented as the criminal types (at least to the public) they were portrayed on the television series and throughout the Hornet's history. Maybe this is explained on the Hornet's own TV series, but why doesn't anyone recognize Kato? Granted, in costume he's only referred to as the Hornet's "masked confederate". Maybe he just keeps a low profile. Still, maybe just because of Bruce Lee's high recognition factor it's a little hard to believe that no one would connect Asian Britt Reid's valet/chauffeur with the Green Hornet's Asian chauffeur/sidekick. 86. Batman's Satisfaction Not only is it weird that Aunt Harriet's hairdryer knocks out the power such that Alfred has to call repairmen (ever heard of fuses? circuit breakers?), but why does an electrical overload knock the telephone out? 91. Pop Goes the Joker As the fight seen draws to a close and Robin is hit for the last time, he falls down and his face goes into a pile of I gather clay. As he pulls his face off from the pile of clay, his mask is somewhat pulled from his face from the result of the clay being somewhat sticky. NOW- notice as he pulls away you can see who Robin really is. His mask is pulled in a downward position revealing his face. I would think that is a goof in that episode because no one is to know their true identities-But a good episode at that. Season 3 110. The Funny Feline Felonies The Trap that The Caped Crusader and The Boy Wonder were supposed to be placed in was cut from the story, but later in this segment The Joker is surprised when The Dynamic Duo and Batgirl appear at the lighthouse, when he believed them all to be dead! When it was decided to delete the trap sequence, nobody took notice of the goof in The Joker's dialogue! 119. The Entrancing Dr. Cassandra King Tut appears as one of the 'arch-villians' of Gotham City, even though in a previous (two weeks before) episode 'I'll Be A Mummy's Uncle' King Tut returned to his life as a professor of egyptology after a blow to his head that completely reformed him.
